Introduction to Glassblowing invites everyone to "experience the magic of hot glass." Students learn the basics while doing simple projects in clear glass. The instructors boast years of experience and will cover topics such as working temperatures and allowing the glass to cool slowly.
After completing Introduction to Glassblowing, enhance your skills during Focus on Forms. You'll build on your knowledge and expand from cylinders to the other five fundamental glass forms.
The team provides a free glassblowing demonstration on the first Saturday of every month (except August). The fun starts at 4:00 p.m., and seating is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once you gain enough experience, you can rent studio space in the hot shop. Time is offered in two-hour increments for the smallest glory hole, with the fee including things such as a bench, pipe warmer, and up to ten pounds of glass per hour.
Inside the gallery, you'll find unique pieces made at Glassblowing Houston. The skilled artisans create bold, colorful items, and the varied selection includes lighting, wall installations, gifts, and more. To shop in person, you'll need to make an appointment. The gallery also offers online shopping so you can discover the world of glass from the comfort of your couch.
