If you are going to watch the Astros at Minute Maid Park, you might be wondering where to eat before or after the game. Here are a few eateries within an easy drive of the stadium and our apartments in Houston Heights:
Grotto
Within walking distance of the stadium, Grotto features a vibrant dining experience in the heart of downtown. It boasts a rustic, warehouse-style setting and is where you can enjoy everything from shareable plates to hearty entrees. Offerings include shrimp piatta, short rib gnocchi, and wild mushroom pizza. Grotto extends its hours to 10:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Irma's Southwest
Irma's Southwest has served "Texas cuisine with a Mexican spirit" since 1998. It's known for offering neighborly service and opens before every Astros home game. Menu offerings include Texas tamales, B.W. burgers, and seafood tacos. Start your meal with chile con queso and a beef fajita salad.
Xochi
Step into Xochi to sample the flavors of Oaxaca. It's found on the first floor of the Marriott Marquis Houston. The restaurant is home to James Beard Award winners and semi-finalists, and was called one of Thrillist's "best Mexican restaurants in America." For dinner, sample the carmones istmenos. This delicious dish features sauteed shrimp served with chile de ajo, rice, and creamy corn.
Biggio's
Not your average sports bar, Biggio's always draws a crowd on game day. It features over 30 big-screen televisions and is known for serving delicious food and some of the best beer in town. Food offerings include chicken and waffles, mushroom burgers, and barbecue mac and cheese.
When you're not cheering on the Astros or dining out, get your hands dirty at a local pottery studio. If you would like to call Lincoln Heights home, please contact us. Our leasing team will schedule a tour where you can discover everything our luxury apartments in Houston have to offer.
