2023 is finally here! Not sure how to celebrate? Here are three local events coming up in January that are sure to kickstart your new year with fun, excitement, and a sense of community, all located just a short drive from our apartments in Houston.
Hot Chocolate Run
Who says chocolate can't be a great addition to a healthy lifestyle? Join fellow-chocolate lovers on January 8th at Sam Houston Park for the Hot Chocolate Run and Expo, featuring a 5k, 10k, and 15k run. Stick around after for the post-run chocolate party featuring fondue, dippables, and hot chocolate, as well as vendors and music for everyone to enjoy. But wait... there's more! Be sure to join the Hot Chocolate Expo on January 27th for goodie bags, even more chocolate, and fun vendors starting at 11 am.
MLK Grande Parade
Join local Houstonians at San Jacinto and Elgin on January 16th to honor the great civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 29th Annual MLK Grande Parade. This year's theme is Drum Majors for the Dream, featuring a team of dignitaries, dance and cheer teams, marching bands, floats, and corporate and civic organizations from across the nation. Admission is free and open to the public.
The Sound Inside at 4th Wall Theatre Company
Starting January 19th, the 4th Wall Theatre Company will present Adam Rapp's The Sound Inside, a peculiar love-story about an Ivy League writing professor, Bella Baird, struggling to find both inspiration and love. Kim Tobin-Lehl (Bella Baird) and Christian Tannous (Christopher Dunn) bring Rapp's unpredictable and riveting screenplay to life under the direction of K. Lorrel Manning until February 11. Be sure to grab your tickets early!
