If your New Years resolution was to read more, but you've had trouble getting started, it's not too late. If you're looking for some great new books to jumpstart your reading list, check out these indie bookstores near our apartments in Houston Heights:
Beckers Books
This book lover's destination can be found on the Katy freeway, outside the Loop. Beckers is actually Houston's oldest independent bookstore, with a stellar reputation to match its lengthy heritage. It's housed in a renovated old house painted brick red, with shelves and shelves of classic literature and rare finds. Among the second-hand books here, you'll find antique collectibles, along with manuscripts that you'll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.
Katy Budget Books
You're bound to find something good at Katy Budget Books, with more than 75,000 titles in stock at any given time. If you enjoy meeting authors in person, you can drop by for a book signing event. This shop also hosts three different book clubs, with varying genre themes, including mystery, cozy, and fantasy. If you'd prefer to stay cozy at home while you do your book shopping, you can support this local business through their online shopping link.
Blue Willow Bookshop
This shop has been in operation since 1973, albeit with a different name and owner. It originally started as Musabelle's Books, and the current owner (Valerie) took over operations - and changed the name - when Musabelle retired. Blue Willow Bookshop continues the adoring bibliophile tradition of the generations, with a staff that's attentive and tuned in to provide you with the best book recommendations. They also hold frequent in-person and online author events with well-known, big name speakers.
Few things go better with a good book than a good slice of pie. You can find the tastiest pies at these local pie shops. Our Lincoln Heights apartments are located near a variety of attractions. Contact us for a tour and check out our amenities!
