Would you like to enjoy some good old-fashioned barbecue?
Then head to one of these restaurants near our Houston Heights apartments where you'll find everything from smoked brisket to fall-off-the-bone ribs:
Pinkerton's Barbecue
Grant Pinkerton grew up in Houston, where he became fascinated about meat, fire, and Texas traditions. Today, he owns Pinkerton's Barbecue and is one of America's top nine up-and-coming pitmasters. Grant takes pride in his high-quality meat and makes the sides from scratch using his family's time-honored recipes. Offerings include prime brisket, glazed pork ribs, and smoked sausage. They pair well with the potato salad and Aunt Ruby's blueberry cobbler for dessert.
The Brisket House
Step into The Brisket House to enjoy a dining experience, unlike any other. The pitmasters are driven by an all-consuming passion for creating delicious barbecue. They use the finest ingredients, and according to the Houston Press, they "do brisket right." The meats smoke for sixteen plus hours in a signature blend of spices. They each boast a unique flavor, and choices include pulled pork, jalapeno sausage, and whole chicken.
Truth Barbecue
Called one of the top ten barbecue restaurants in Texas, Truth Barbecue always draws a crowd. Houston is home to the second location, and guests can dine Tuesday through Sunday until 4:00 p.m. The restaurant offers a warm, rustic setting where strangers become friends. It comes complete with exposed brick, chalkboard menus, and American flags. Menu offerings include turkey, pulled pork, and beef ribs (Saturdays only). They're best enjoyed with the tater tot casserole and corn pudding.
