Would you like to enjoy an unforgettable evening of music or dancing?
Then head to the Wortham Theater Center.
Built at the height of the 1980s oil bust, it was the country's first major opera house constructed in over 25 years. It was funded entirely by the private sector and was five million dollars under budget. The theater is a masterful playground for performing artists and boasts an array of intimate public spaces.
Since 1987, Wortham has welcomed over eight million patrons who have come to enjoy the majestic performances of the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet. It's an easy drive from our Houston luxury apartments, and here is a sample of what you can enjoy:
Houston Grand Opera
A local fixture since 1955, the Houston Grand Opera is one of the country's most decorated opera companies. It is the only opera to win a Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award, and was the only American finalist for Opera Company of the Year in 2019. The opera contributes to the cultural enrichment of the city. The innovative performances draw sell-out crowds, and the season features varied productions. Upcoming shows include Carmen, Werther, and Cinderella.
Houston Ballet
The Houston Ballet strives to inspire an appreciation for dance through artistic excellence and innovative choreography. Called " One of America's Best Ballet Companies" by The New York Times, it produces over 85 productions annually and is home to 61 dancers. The company travels extensively around the world. It's a leader in the development of new full-length narrative ballets and pushes boundaries unlike ever before. The 2020/2021 season includes Rock, Roll & Tutus, Rite of Spring, and Aladdin.
