If you want to learn how to play polo or ride a horse, head to the Houston Polo Club. Founded in 1928, it's now the largest club of its type in the United States. Today, the club remains dedicated to promoting the sport as well as educating new and experienced players. Here is some of what you can enjoy near our Houston Heights apartments:
Polo School
One of the oldest team sports, polo is a fun game played on horseback. Two teams of four players use long mallets to move a wooden ball down a grass field and between two goalposts. During the spring and fall seasons, the Houston Polo Club hosts its eight-week polo school. It's perfect for beginners and teaches everything necessary to take to the field. The course includes game strategy, proper horsemanship, as well as proper mallet swing. Both horses and tack are provided.
Riding Lessons
Learn to ride with Paige Flanders. She offers English, Western, jumper, hunter, and dressage lessons. Paige is the daughter of two polo players. In fact, her parents had her riding as soon as she could walk, and today, Paige works with her team to offer fun classes that focus on balance, safety, and each rider's goals.
Sunday Polo
Head to the club on Sundays to enjoy a polo match. The games are played at Farish Field and last between 2 and 2.5 hours. They also offer a fun way to learn about the sport and feature non-stop action from beginning to end. Gates open 60 minutes before the match. You can easily purchase the tickets online.
On your way home from the Houston Polo Club, stop by a local drive-thru to grab a delicious meal. To call Lincoln Heights home, please contact us. Our leasing team would love to show you everything our luxury apartments in Houston have to offer.
