Are you looking for seasonal fresh produce and other local goods?
Then head to the Urban Harvest Farmers Market.
Open year-round, it welcomes farmers and artisans from within 180 miles of Houston. It's a quick drive from our apartments in Houston Heights, and you never know what you're going to find. Vendors include:
Bread Man Baking Co.
Texas native Tasos Katsaounis learned how to bake bread at the age of ten. He made his grandmother's time-honored recipes. One loaf quickly turned into a hobby, and today he owns the Bread Man Baking Co. Tasos sells his creations at farmers markets as well as to the city's restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores. Choices include marble rye, cranberry walnut, and chocolate chip challah.
Law Ranch Cattle Company
The Law family began ranching in 1952. Ray inherited the ranch from his father and offers the finest grass-fed beef in town. He works alongside his wife, and never gives the cattle antibiotics or hormones. The ranch has many regular customers and offers high-quality products at competitive prices. Along with the beef, other items include country links, smoked jalapeno & green onion sausage, and whole chickens.
Pain Train Salsa
Pain Train offers the finest creamy avocado and roasted red salsas in Texas. They're all-natural and range from mild to out-of-this-world hot. When the founder attended his first farmers market, he sold out within the first hour. He quickly quit his teaching job and opened a storefront in Tomball, where all of the products are made. Flavors include Perfect Hot, pineapple & honey, and Green-Go-Spicy.
The Urban Harvest Farmers Market is open seasonally on Wednesdays and every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
