Start your visit at the Jesse H. Jones Theatre. It's where Texas Forever!! The Battle of San Jacinto fills the screen. For 35 minutes, you'll be on the edge of your seat as it transports you from the largest Spanish colonies to the day the West was won." The film plays every hour on the hour between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Albert & Ethel Herzstein Library
At the Albert & Ethel Herzstein Library, the collection spans several hundred years of history. It boasts manuscripts, rare books, and other items that cover all things Texas. The library is open by appointment on select Fridays and Saturdays. Call or fill out the online form to request a date and time.
Permanent Exhibit
The permanent exhibit highlights the story of Texas' independence. You'll journey through hundreds of years of history as you discover photographs, documents, and period artifacts. New content is frequently added, so you might see something different with each visit. Items include pre-Columbian pottery, maps that guided the region's explorers, and tools used to work the land.
San Jacinto Monument
At 570 feet high, the San Jacinto Monument is the world's tallest war memorial. Head to the observation floor to enjoy a spectacular birds-eye view of the Houston Ship Channel and Battleship Texas. You won't be disappointed.
