When you want to enjoy some fishing fun, the lakes and bays around Houston have you covered. You'll find an array of species and take in the beautiful scenery as you cast a line. The best fishing spots near our Houston apartments include:
Tom Bass Regional Park
Named after former Harris County Commissioner, Tom Bass Regional Park offers endless recreational fun. It's divided into three sections. Each includes its own unique amenities, and anglers enjoy the 23-acre lake. From atop the fishing pier, you'll catch catfish, rainbow trout, and largemouth bass.
Lake Conroe
Stretching over 20,000 acres, Lake Conroe runs through the East Texas Piney Woods Forest. It boasts an average depth of 20.5 feet and a maximum depth of 75 feet. The lake became a popular recreational destination in 1973. Today, it is well known for largemouth bass. In 2009, a fisherman caught the largest largemouth bass ever recorded at the lake. It weighed in at 15.93 pounds. Anglers can also cast a line for bluegill, channel catfish, and hybrid striped bass. As you fish, you may enjoy visits from white-tailed deer, chirping birds, and wild turkeys.
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge
Anahuac is where you will find both saltwater and freshwater fishing. The refuge's shoreline along the East Galveston Bay welcomes saltwater anglers 24 hours a day. The bay is home to redfish, speckled trout, and southern flounder. For freshwater fishing, the East Bay Bayou boasts three fishing piers. You can catch bowfin, channel catfish, largemouth bass, and other species.
Prepare your fresh catch with ingredients from the Urban Harvest Farmers Market. The market is offering drive-thru pickup for fresh produce and more.
